Homeland Security Protective Measures – Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) In December 2005 the Spartanburg Public Safety Department assigned an officer to the FBI’s Upstate SC Joint Terrorism Task Force. Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) operate under the direction of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). JTTFs are made up of law enforcement officers who represent federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. South Carolina task forces are dedicated to the investigation and apprehension of terrorists and terrorist organizations planning or carrying out terrorist acts occurring in or affecting the state of South Carolina. JTTF task force members are prepared to investigate leads, gather evidence, make arrests, provide security for special events, conduct training, collect and share intelligence and respond to threats and actual incidents that may pose a threat to our security. The combining of federal, state, and local law enforcement resources has resulted in effective maximization of resources, the provision of sophisticated investigative and technological resources, and linkage to all federal government resources in the United States and worldwide. |
