The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has the
responsibility of developing information leading to the arrest of criminal
offenders, preparing cases, recovering stolen property, locating missing
persons, focusing attention on family violence and providing services to victims
of violent crime. CID currently has ten investigators, a sergeant and a
lieutenant. The Crime Prevention Unit, Identification Technician, Crime Scene
Technicians, Juvenile/Gang Investigator, Victim Specialist, and a secretary are
also assigned to CID. Additionally, an investigator is assigned to the local
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) task force.
The cases followed by investigators fall into one of two broad categories:
Crimes Against Persons or Crimes Against Property. Investigators typically
concentrate in one category, but may be assigned cases from either category as
workloads dictate.
