Office of Fire Prevention

The Office of Fire Prevention, commonly referred to as the Fire Marshals Office, is responsible and offers guidance for Public Fire Safety Education, Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigations, Fire Safety Compliance Inspections, assisting with Pre-Fire Incident Planning, and coordinating community programs and services. The activities of the Office are imbedded in the fundamental motto of the Fire Division, “Preservation Through Prevention”.

The office is staffed by a Fire Marshal and two Deputy Fire Marshals who strive to ensure the Fire Division maintains an active role in prevention. A third Deputy Fire Marshal has been assigned to the Building Department, reporting to the Building Official, to conduct plan review and inspections of new construction projects or permitted renovations.

A reserve Fire Marshal program is available for qualified individuals.
