Fire and Rescue Training Office

Training Officer Mitch Trammel oversees the training office of the Fire Division and is assisted by three shift instructors. The shift instructors are Sergeant Doug Lea (C-Shift), Senior Firefighter Ashley Norfolk (A-Shift), and Senior Firefighter Perry Gosnell (B-Shift). The office is responsible for scheduling all training, coordinating annual physicals and monitoring results and the development of specifications and procuring all uniforms and personnel protective equipment.
The Training Office is dedicated to providing the highest level of training to our employees, to ensure the protection of the lives of responders and civilians, in the event of any type of natural or man made disasters. We are dedicated to building partnerships with other agencies to maintain the highest level of services through out Spartanburg and the State of South Carolina.
A training committee assists with development of the annual training schedule. This committee consists of Training Officer, Shift Instructors, Assistant Chief Mike Comer, Battalion Chief Richard Balmer, and Lieutenant Phil Stark.
